At Kids & Company, we foster growth in the Kidco Way; creating a culture of kindness, innovation, diversity, courage and optimism. We rely heavily on these values to guide our decision-making, our problem-solving and the way we treat our employees, families and partners.
Be thoughtful, listen and understand.
Embrace imagination, resourcefulness and continuous learning.
Respect, embrace and celebrate our differences.
Be bold, brave and speak up for what you believe in.
Look at challenges with an open mind to possibilities.
We take the role of nurturing and developing the minds, bodies and spirits of children seriously. We follow an emergent curriculum philosophy, which means our teachers are trained to facilitate learning opportunities and spark discovery. We demonstrate curiosity and excitement about the world around us by approaching the world according to the values of The Kidco Way.
Formerly our Random Acts of Kindness program, Kids & Company recognizes its staff who go above and beyond to exemplify our Kidco Way values in their own way. We encourage parents, employees and partners touched by the acts of a Kids & Company staff member to shout out the ways they were kind, innovative, diverse, courageous or optimistic.
Nominated by a Co-worker: Chef Greg has been an AMAZING, refreshing addition to our Kidco Kitchen team! I always knew that Greg had a wonderful energy about him, but this month he and his team really went above and beyond for the children of Chicago! Instead of recycling the cardboard boxes from his ingredient deliveries, he saved a number of them and built a scary “haunted house” that the children could explore. Not only is he dedicated to making yummy, delicious food for our children, but his infectious, positive and innovative attitude always leaves me feeling confident that the little foodies of Chicago are always having a great day!Close
Nominated by a Co-worker: Rose loves each child as if her own, she welcomes everyone in with open arms. Every child is unique in their own way and she makes them feel so loved. She makes a big deal out of what they accomplish and it shows with their reactions the joy and excitement they feel.
When facing challenges, she encourages children to work it out and share their feelings with each other. She includes everyone in activities and encourages everyone to try.Close
Nominated by a Co-worker: Brittany is the director at our Sherwood Park location and since her return from maternity leave, her attitude and optimism have been outstanding.
The centre has had quite a few challenges, specifically staffing shortages and Brittany has come to work and put her best foot forward while ensuring that the staff, children and parents are supported to the best of her and her team’s ability. Even during times when one would typically feel defeated, she rose to the occasion and did an excellent job managing the centre.
I can honestly say that Brittany’s optimism is contagious! She models a high level of standard and doesn’t expect any of the staff to do anything that she herself wouldn’t do.
Thank you Brittany for all of your hard work and dedication. You truly deserve to be given a ‘shout out’ as you make every day an enjoyable one!Close
“Those are the words that really speak to who we are as an organization.”
In 2020, during the global pandemic, Kids & Company paused to collaborate across teams on the ‘why’ and ‘how’ we do what we do. With a firm belief that children are the future, we aim to impact their present. And our approach is guided heavily by the values of being kind, innovative, diverse, courageous and optimistic.
