Where work and play come together
Kids & Company provides a nurturing and educational early learning environment for children to play, discover and grow. We offer programming curriculum focusing on Pre-Reading, Fine Arts, Fitness and Movement (Munchkinetics), Sign Language, Music and more.
In addition to providing high-quality community based child care, Kids & Company partners with many of North America’s largest and most recognizable corporations to provide work-life balance solutions through guaranteed flexible child care.
Over the past 14 years, Kids & Company has cared for a generation of Canadian children and is one of Canada’s leading child care and early learning providers. Kids & Company was co- founded in 2002 by CEO Victoria Sopik, a life-long entrepreneur and mother of eight, and CFO Jennifer Nashmi, a corporate leader and mother of three. They knew the delicate balance between raising children and having a successful career and filled that need with reliable, nurturing child care.
We are thrilled to bring our innovative and trusted learning and child care services to the US. Our energy, passion and reliability make Kids & Company the ideal place for your child to learn and grow.
Welcome to Kids & Company!
I am so pleased that you are considering becoming a part of the Kids & Company family. Every time a new child registers, I feel that I am personally entrusted with your child's care and for this I am very grateful.
I have eight children of my own! They now range from 18 - 29 years and although I love them dearly, I certainly miss them being babies. (They didn't talk back then!)
As an entrepreneur and mother, I know firsthand how challenging it is to balance work and family and I’ve found that finding the right child care is incredibly important. That’s why at Kids & Company we offer reliable, professional child care that is flexible enough to meet each family’s specific needs. We provide a safe, nurturing and enriched learning environment for your child. And we don't charge late fees!
We provide you with peace of mind, so you can feel good about going to work every day.
I have written this note to launch my weekly blog, packed with more valuable content for you. Not only will my blog provide you with a quick update as to exciting things that are happening in the Kids & Company world but also some stories from my personal, hectic life.
On a corporate note, I was just in British Columbia, opening our new Port Moody location. Such a beautiful centre. Prior to that I was in Calgary happily cutting ribbons at the "grand opening" of three new locations - Marda Loop, Beltline and Aviation Crossing. Calgary continues to be a terrific market for us and we are grateful to have the confidence and trust of parents there.
I was in Illinois in April to open our fifth location in the United States, our North Clark Lincoln Park centre! We also recently opened our Geneva and Schaumburg centres in Illinois. In addition, we will be opening four new locations in Canada this year, Mississauga (Mississauga Gateway Centre), Ottawa Westboro, Edmonton Ice and St. Clair and Dufferin (Stockyards). Our new Milton, Barrie and Whitby locations are all accepting registrations. We are doing our best to have child care available in a variety of geographic locations for our busy working families!
On a more personal note, we are still recovering from the busy time of my middle son's wedding! He was married at the end of May in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Now that all the wedding craziness has settled down, it's nice to escape to our cottage! My grandsons Maclean and Owen love playing by the lake and roasting s’mores at the campfire. It brings back so many memories of my own kids enjoying cottage life!
Our last baby just turned 19! We are now officially empty nesters! Last September, Fraser went off to Western University in Ontario to play football…and study business. Number seven child, Cole, has just finished his third year at The Richard Ivey school of Business. He has just found out that he will have a term in New Zealand for his final semester. I had never heard of the University of Otago, and am looking forward to visiting him there a year from now.
Also last Fall, we travelled to Halifax for the graduation of child number six. He loved Dalhousie! All of my children have enjoyed being away at university but there seems to be a special love for Halifax from the students that make the trek east.
My oldest daughter finished Articling and was called to the Bar a year ago. My younger daughter is a scientist and is working on her PHD at the University of Toronto. She was named after her mother, and I am very proud to see my name (actually her name), as the work she has done is being published.
As a woman that loves children, and most importantly babies, my current wish is for a few more grandbabies in 2017!
